This might be a bit nerdy but it’s a good reference point. My system has changed a lot over the years through upgrades, burglaries, family and house changes. I tend to like things neutral, having owned amps from the likes of Audiolab and Cyrus over the years.
I bought my Audiovector speakers 20-ish years ago but they still sound fabulous, although the cabinets and cloth covers are showing their age (as you can see). It’s hard to compare them to current models, but a dealer recently told me I’d need to spend $10k to better them.
My amp is also getting old, and the volume knob has a tendency to creep if touched, so I stick to the remote.
My digital source is a Mini PC, USB-connected to a Topping Centaurus RR DAC. I play high-res FLAC files with J River Media Center where possible, and rarely use streaming services.
I’m very happy with my Rega P6, the best turntable setup I’ve had to date. I do have an early-model Michell GyroDec in the cupboard that needs work, but that’s another post…
